The Greycliff Mill is between Bozeman and Billings in Montana. We have a real water-powered gristmill, along with some of the best coffee and snacks around. Downtown Big Timber
Visit our historic downtown for shopping, dining, and to see what life is like in a real Montana small town. Big Timber is located at the intersection of the I-90 Business Loop and Highway 191 and near the confluence of the Boulder and the Yellowstone rivers. McLeod Street leads south to the Boulder River Valley. Join us for a stroll downtown.
Natural Bridge
Named for a gravity-defying limestone arch that once spanned the Boulder River just above the falls, which collapsed in 1988, Natural Bridge is located up the Boulder River from Big Timber. Follow McLeod St. up Highway 298, south of town, to reach the park area.
Informational signs line the trails describing the geology and history of the area. The site features accessible paved trails and picnic tables and is the trailhead for Green Mountain Trail, which will take you to a saddle offering a view of both the East Boulder and Main Boulder Valleys and both the river-fed corridors. These extended backcountry trails begin from the paved ADA-accessible viewpoints within the State Park.
Crazy Mountain Museum
At Crazy Mountain Museum, we have a replica Norwegian stabbur, a tipi, our one-room Sourdough schoolhouse, and a Fjare homestead cabin. Visitors can enjoy our picnic-worthy grounds with our acclaimed Lewis and Clark gardens, which contain plants that Clark named in his journals as he passed through this area in 1806. The gardens were planted in 2006 as part of the Lewis and Clark Expedition Commemorative Celebration and are now one of two such gardens left in Montana.
Other museum features include free Wi-Fi, free admission, and a gift shop filled with books, rocks, souvenirs, locally made items, and more! Our parking lot is large enough to accommodate large travel trailers as well.
At Crazy Mountain Museum, we are continuously working to preserve our county's history. We specialize in the history of Sweet Grass County and hope to engage and inspire people of all ages and backgrounds about our history, from geological finds to archeology to our local genealogy. We have a wide range of exhibits to pique your interest.
